About the Author
As a severely abused child herself, Jeanne experienced firsthand their feelings of abandonment, fear, shame, pain, and loss of trust. She knows and reveals an intimate look into the lives of these helpless children. To help you recognize those things that must change to help these innocent children escape their torturous struggle, she conveys valuable insights and information to make this complex issue understandable.
Jeanne is a living example of what an abused child can accomplish when at least one person cares. As a one-woman gang, this extraordinary woman approaches the subject with dedication and the tenacity of a mother bear protecting her cubs.
Her goals are to educate and change the behaviors of parents, social workers, law enforcement, judges, legislators, foster parents, and the public in general.
This issue touches all of us. Michigan's Blue Cross and Blue Shield recognized this when in 2003 they selected Jeanne and gave her The Angel of the Year award for her work with these children.
Jeanne Fowler travels the U.S. telling and teaching just what abuse looks like through the eyes of a child. She tells how to recognize abuse and how to report it. This book is her life story and is documented in Chicago newspapers. Ms. Fowler doesn't speak as an observer, she speaks as a participant; she lived this abuse.
