BOOK TITLE : Le Petit Chaperon Rouge [Little Red Riding Hood]

DESCRIPTION : Softcover, Paper-bound Stapled Booklet, ("Brochure"), 8" X 5.5", (circa 1921). Promotional Reprint ( ? ), Condition : (Good), The Front & Back Covers are loose from the rest of the content, (i.e. pages 2 - 16 still attached / stapled). 4 Full Page Colour Plates / Colour Picture Front & Back Cover. There is 'Chipping' and small tears to the Booklet Edges., thus classed as only "Good". N.B. This was / is a very Uncommon find from a Charity Shop, of which I have had for many years. Perhaps someone out there can "Rescue" it].

My initail thoughts were : Published by Alphonse Capendu under his 'popular' series, "Librarie Enfantine illustre", (illustrated childrens library) booklets, Which never had publication dates. [The inside of this copy has a 'faint' pencil ownership of 1931]. However, The Last Page has a picture (b/w drawing), of the building 'Palais Benedictine' - A Famous architechural landmark built in the 19th Century, featuring an ornate blend of Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles. Thus, I am now more inclined to think that this Booklet / Brochure, is / was a Promotional tool, rather than being a a standard bookstore copy published by Alphonse Capendu, [whose illustrations were often done by Richard Andre (Pseud of William Harrison Fletcher) circa 1834 - 1907]. - In view of the Benedictine Picture which serves as the historic distillery Headquarters / Museum, for the production of the famous French herbal liquer (Benedictine D.O.M.), it could be classed as Promotional (livret publicitaire) Advertising Literature. These 'Promotional Booklets are quite uncommon now due to the 'High fragility' and loss rate, I.E. were given away to children. (ALTHOUGH : A booklet showing a child carrying a Large Bottle of Alcohol to her Grandmother is quite odd!)
