Der vorliegende Band prasentiert die Ergebnisse des Workshops "Petrarchism: Competing Models for Early Modern Community Building (1400-1700)", der im November 2023 an der Freien Universitat Berlin abgehalten wurde. Der Workshop war eine Veranstaltung des Projekts "Petrarchan Worlds" im DFG-Exzellenzcluster "Temporal Communities. Doing literature in a global perspective". Untersucht wurden unterschiedliche Strategien und Dynamiken der Konstitution kultureller Gemeinschaften in der Fruhen Neuzeit, mit Fokus auf unterschiedliche Medien (Literatur und Bildende Kunst) und diverse Sprachbereiche (deutscher, englischer, italienischer, franzosischer, spanischer und niederlandischer Petrarkismus). Dabei war fur die einzelnen Beitrage die Frage zentral, mit welcher Ideologie und welchen Verfahren sich Gruppen und Individuen in den einzelnen europaischen Landern an die autoritative Selbststilisierung Petrarcas als eines Begrunders kultureller Gemeinschaft angeschlossen haben.
