Philippians (New Testament Discourse Analysis Commentaries)

The epistle to the Philippian church was written by Paul when he was advanced in years and imprisoned for preaching the gospel. Despite its relatively brief length, Philippians has been a letter of critical importance in the history of Christian thought, and it remains so today. This commentary explores the content of Philippians through linguistic discourse analysis, a relatively recent but increasingly influential approach in New Testament studies. Jae Hyun Lee provides a meticulous analysis of the Greek text, offering guidance to modern readers in comprehending the themes and flow of Paul’s message. This commentary offers a valuable model for careful and sensitive engagement with the Bible.

Jae Hyun Lee is assistant professor and chaplain at Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea. He is the author of Paul's Gospel in Romans (2010).
