Add to basketAllen & Unwin, London, 1966. 1st edition published in Great Britain. XI,276p. Original blue hard bound. Spine silver titled. Lacking dust wrappers. Front cover vaguely stained. Gift intention and date on free endpaper. ?Professor Brumbaugh has written ?an introduction to Greek though which is neither a textbook filled with specific fact nor an appreciation in general terms without specific content. The result is a survey with considerable freshness of approach (?), but the result is rather thin. The thinness might be excuses as an inevitable result of the author?s stated aims if the book were not so full of errors. (?) The book show enthusiasm and wide reading, and it contains some good sections, such as the chapter on Zeno. On the whole, however, it suffers from carelessness and from a failure to address itself to any one distinct type of reader.? (RASAMOND KENT SPRAGUE in Classical Philology, 1966, p.65).
