The Philosophy of Ralph Cudworth a Study of the True Intellectual System of the Universe

The Philosophy of Ralph Cudworth: A Study of the True Intellectual System of the Universe is a book written by Charles E. Lowrey. It is a comprehensive study of the philosophical works of Ralph Cudworth, an English philosopher and theologian who lived in the 17th century. The book delves into Cudworth's ideas about the nature of reality, the existence of God, and the relationship between the mind and the body. Lowrey examines Cudworth's arguments in detail and provides a critical analysis of his philosophy. The book is written for students and scholars of philosophy who are interested in the history of ideas and the development of philosophical thought. It is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Cudworth's contributions to the field of philosophy.1884. Lowrey's study is designed to present the principal features of philosophy as developed by Cudworth, who was an English philosopher and the leader of the Cambridge Platonists, in his great work, entitled The True Intellectual System of the Universe. The work took the form of a reply to the popular materialistic writer (and his nemesis), Thomas Hobbes; yet it was too Catholic in its spirit to escape the charge from the majority of contemporary theologians of being atheistic, heterodox, and heretical in its tendencies. Lowrey has designed his text in a form that is sufficiently comprehensive for the general student and properly introductory to a more extended investigation of Cudworth.
