Phoebe has attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and is not sure she can overcome the misunderstandings she encounters as she tries to adjust to second grade.
Barbara Roberts is an author and kindergarten teacher in Upstate New York. She has written several stories to help children and their families deal with issues such as ADHD, Alzheimer's Disease, friendship and everyday problems which young people encounter.
Barbara obtained a Speech Therapy degree from the University of Buffalo and worked as a speech therapist before completing her graduate work in elementary education.
The ideas for Barbara's stories have come from her experience as a mother of three children, a speech therapist, and a teacher whose students have shared their concerns and adventures with her.
Barbara is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for projects she has designed. These projects integrate writing, literature, technology and the arts. She also shares her ideas with fellow educators at workshops she conducts on a variety of topics. Barbara lives in Camilus, New York with her husband Michael and their three children, Carly, Nathan and Megan.
