Phoenix Rewritten: The Rise of Policy-Driven Security (Phoenix Protocol)

A CISO's cyber thriller and a practical playbook for zero trust authorization. Book 1 of the Phoenix Protocol series.

You did everything right. The breach still happened.

When a catastrophic breach tears through Zenith Health's patient portal, CISO Lauren Reyes learns what her firewalls, MFA and audits never told her: identity is not authorization. With expert Elias Tran she rebuilds security from the inside out: policy-as-code, Open Policy Agent (OPA), centralized decisions and governance that lasts.

Part techno-thriller, part field manual. You'll learn:

• Why IAM, RBAC and zero trust programs still leave authorization gaps
• How to externalize authorization into testable policy (PDP/PEP, ABAC, ReBAC)
• Policy as code: version control, review, CI/CD testing
• Audit evidence and access reviews that satisfy regulators and boards

Written for CISOs, security architects, AppSec and IAM leads, and CTOs, and for any reader who likes a realistic cyber thriller.

Quick facts: Phoenix Protocol Book 1 by Mark O. Rogge. The story continues in Book 2, THE BLANK ALLOW, where AI agents learn to approve themselves.

Stop chasing alerts. Start governing policy.
