Item description from seller

Oblong small quarto measuring 11" x 7". String-tied black cloth over stiff paper boards with gilt decorations. Contains 98 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 1" x 1" and 3.5" x 5.5" with captions. Very good album with bumped corners and worn edges with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by Wayne Wright beginning in 1931 when he was attending Colo High School in Iowa. The album continues through his college years at Iowa State University with some family photos and images from a trip to the World's Fair. The early pages focus on high school, especially Wayne's participation with the Colorado High School football team. These include photos and newspaper clippings about the team with headlines reading "Only 2 Games Are Lost in Nine Starts" and "Colo Makes Another Good Record on Gridiron." Photos from this time show group shots of "the squad" and "the line" as well as individual portraits of each player with their position captioned under them. Wayne includes photos of friends skipping school, hanging out in cars, and on a family farm. Wayne and family also attended the World's Fair in Chicago the theme of which was "City of Progress." The second half of the album follows his college career at Iowa State University. He includes "some campus views," friends posed on the campus, and newspaper clippings with articles about his time there. His i.d. card for the "Division of Industrial Science Iowa State College" is featured here as well. Wayne and his friends are seen ice skating, attending football games, and participating in Greek life on campus. The last section of the album shows Wayne and his friends on a trip to Iron Mountain with images of them hiking and views of Mount Rushmore in the distance. An extensive look at the high school and college career of a student in Iowa in the 1930s.…
