About this Item
Photo album. Oblong octavo. String-tied flexible cloth boards gilt. 106 mostly sepia-toned photographs, various sizes, mostly 5.5" x 3" and two per page. Two or three images are lacking, but apparently not pillaged; partially captioned, some modest oxidation to some images but most are nice, over all very good or better. An unusually nice album with a variety of interesting subjects, divided perhaps 60/40 between Palm Beach, Florida and Cooperstown, New York. Curiously the images seem interspersed rather than segregated and after the album appropriately begins with two men perched atop a billboard for Palm Beach Properties built by John J. Quinn & Co., follows that with construction and beach scenes, and then shows boating off of Florida, followed by a boating scene with "Tubby" on Otsego Lake, and men in Cooperstown posing with a cardboard cut-out of Charlie Chaplin. These are followed by several excellent aviation photos of the Bishop-Privette Aeriel Co. and features an image of a (necessarily miniscule) wing walker. These are followed by images of various locations around Palm Beach and Cooperstown, occasionally on the same page. After several more Florida dredging and construction shots come some nice images of men and women on Indian motorcycles, and rounded out with several pleasing beach scenes including a small child in a deep hole, men at Gus' Baths on the beach, posing in pyramids, etc. An unusually nice album with interesting images.
