Oblong folio measuring 15" x 9". String-tied black cloth over stiff paper boards. Contains 344 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs, some hand colored, measuring between 2" x 3" and 6" x 10" with captions. Very good album with chips and tears with very good or better photographs. An extensive photo album kept by a young man in New Mexico, Raymond Eddy, emphasizing his schooling and amatuer photography. The album is not completely in chronological order with the first few pages showing his time at the University of Colorado. Following this he captures his senior year at Albuquerque High School with images of sports teams, organizations he had joined, and time spent with friends. Many of these include tongue-in-cheek captions such as "result of four years of study" under a picture of a skeleton in a science lab. One photo shows a woman riding a bike with a male student sitting in her basket which reads, "some basket full"; another shows a group of girls on a car with a man fixing the engine with the caption "engine trouble." They camp at Bear Canyon, Sedilla Hill, and Tijeras Canyon. It seems Eddy had an eye for photography and many of these photographs capture the beauty and landscape of the area. After the school photography is over Eddy includes images from events and locations around New Mexico. One section includes photos from the "Flying Circus" in Albuquerque. Pictured here are images of a number of planes including a French Spad, Curtiss bi-planes, and a German Fookar. The planes also participate in an air show performing tricks and showing them "in action." He then photographs drills at the U.S. Indian School, which shows the students marching in uniform. A wonderful panorama of the city of Santa Fe made from three photographs is also seen here. They also visit ancient Native American sites photographing the "oldest house in the USA 1500." He is involved in a surveying trip in Carson National Forest, numerous camping and fishing trips, and travels to Las Vegas and Arizona photographing landscapes and Native American dwellings. Some of the photographs feature handcoloring. A wonderful collection of photographs of the Southwest taken by a young amatuer photographer.…
