Large oblong folio measuring 15.5" x 11.5". Bolt-bound cloth over boards with "Photographs" stamped in gilt script on front board. The album contains approximately 110 photographs, most are approximately 4" x 5". About half are glossy, sepia-toned albumen photographs; the other half are matte-finish black and white gelatin photographs with deep blacks and crisp grays. Images are in provided album slots, a few have been glued in. Many of the gelatin silver images are dated "1904" in the negative. The album has some wear and some of the slots have been a bit torn or mended, a few slots near the end are empty, overall very good, while the photos show occasional fading but are overall near fine. An exceptionally good group of images, with impressive views of mountain terrain and rushing waters in the Rockies, dugout shelters, hunting party campsites, tent-living, campfire cooking, men with rifles, men on snowshoes, men with backpacks, men feeding baby mountain goats, horseback hunting, images of killed large game animals :bear, deer, elk, an antelope loaded on a horse, a mounted big horn sheep's head), cleaning a bear skin, bundles of pelts, the summit of and views from Pike's Peak, the Garden of the Gods, naked men in a stream, Yosemite Valley, giant Sequoia Trees, log cabins, and more.
