[1946-1960] Post World War Two. Red leather over boards, cord tie at spine. 309 mounted photographs, 25 loose photos laid in; with miscellaneous clippings, postcards, and other printed materials, including holiday cards. This album follows a young "war bride" from the Philippines as she builds her new life in the United States after WWII. While the United States granted independence to the Philippines on July 4, 1946, it still retained dozens of military bases on the islands. The "Captain Crane" in this collection is likely an American Serviceman in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Survey and Drafting Section. This album likely belonged to, and was compiled by, Mrs. Crane, and seems to reflect her point of view. It contains photographs of her family and friends in both the Philippines and the U.S., highlights include wedding, baby and holiday photos, army base, as well as a photo of her younger brother being inducted as an ensign in the Philippines Navy.
