ABOUT THE PHYSICAL BEST PROGRAM AND THE AMERICAN FITNESS ALLIANCE The Physical Best program is offered through The American Fitness Alliance (AFA), a collaborative effort of AAHPERD, CIAR, and Human Kinetics. AFA also offers assessment resources, which can be combined with Physical Best to create a complete health-related physical education program:
• The FITNESSGRAM test for evaluating students’ physical fitness, developed by
• The Brockport Physical Fitness Test, a national test developed specifically for youths with disabilities
• FitSmart, the first national test designed to assess high school students’ knowledge of concepts and principles of physical fitness
Additional AFA support resources are available and even more are in development, such as a physical activity text for high school students and a middle school version of FitSmart. All AFA resources are designed to foster the development of quality health-related physical education programs that promote the benefits of lifelong physical activity and health in young people.
Sponsorship for Physical Best is provided by Gopher Sport and Mars, Incorporated.
