It is an added bonus that the resulting book is good to read, with both text and illustrations exhibiting an unusual degree of clarity and organisation....
Particularly valuable is the thoughtful introduction, which deserves to be a mandatory source for any student of the subject....
The book is rich in relevant mathematical formulae and clear diagrams, while the copious references at the end of each chapter would alone justify its acquisition. Usually a reviewer likes to add a few adverse criticisms to give a sense of balance to his review, but on this occasion I am, uniquely, stuck for an excuse....
A notable feature of this treatment is its timeliness.
