Appleton and Company. 1878, 2nd edition, 384 pp, 7.5 x 5.25 , 8vo, hardcover full cloth. In good condition, with superficial rubbing and wear to exterior. Some discoloration to spine. Light rubbing and starting to hinges at front and rear. Text block remains bound well. Nicely illustrated with foldouts and numerous in-text, black-and-white illustrations. Variety of old-hand and modern inscriptions at front of book. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece on physiography, or physical geography. Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895) was a British biologist and author nicknamed Darwin s bulldog for his strong support for Charles Darwin s theory of evolution. COLN1878ABCX.
