Piano Fun for Adult Beginners : Recreational Music Making for Private or Group Instruction

Piano Fun for Adult Beginners by Brenda Dillon is a piano method designed for absolute adult beginners who want a relaxed and rewarding introduction to playing. Built around the philosophy of Recreational Music Making, this course helps adults begin (or return to) piano in a supportive, non-intimidating environment while learning to read music, play familiar songs, and use lead sheets.

Organized into eight structured modules, the method works for both private lessons and group instruction. Students develop essential skills step by step through clear, easy-to-follow sections that encourage steady progress without pressure. A dedicated To the Teacher section supports classroom use, and included online audio tracks-accessed by unique code-allow learners to listen and reinforce concepts independently.

The repertoire blends traditional melodies, folk songs, holiday favorites, and popular selections, helping adult learners connect with the music they play. By pairing recognizable tunes with gradual skill development, the book builds confidence in reading, coordination, and recreational performance while keeping enjoyment and fulfillment at the center.
