Add to basketL T C Rolt was a respeted writer on transport matters and was selected to compile the "Motoring" volume of Hulton's Picture Histories. Text is limited to a brief preface and a few pages to introduce each of the three major sections:- The Horseless Carriage (1768-1900); The Formative Years 1900-1914); Between the Wars which is folloiwed by an epilogue which takes the histoy to the mid-1950s. However, a truely magnificent selection of illustrations (474 in fact) makes this a book to be treasured. First edition of 1956. 160 pages including index and acknowledgements, b/w photos throughout, some art/cartoons, car adverts, document reproductions etc. Black hard covers with gilt titles/decorations front and spine, light browning to both FEPs, dealer stamp lower right FFEP, text block otherwise excellent, no inscriptions.
