Pig Tails

Guinea pigs are under-rated in the intelligence department. But guinea pigs can change your life, and indeed, the course of earthly history...

Merridy discovers a surreal guinea pig underworld at the Hobart Guinea Pig Show, where she adopts the tiny pedigree Hazel and the handsome mongrel Chestnut. She has no idea that her home, her family, the island of Tasmania, and ultimately, Planet Earth, will in time be turned upside down by the acquisition of two ridiculous furballs with twiddly little legs.

For guinea pigs are smarter than most humans think. And the angelic Hazel is a Pig God in training.

Pig Tails depicts a charming and funny domestic scene, but one with cosmic implications (to be fully revealed in Books 2 and 3). This is what happens when you find yourself eye-to-eye with somepig of a different species, and realise you've met your match.

Merridy writes, edits, illustrates and designs. She runs an editorial services business at merridypugh.com and has worked in varied areas of publishing and the arts since 1992. Her website at guineapigempire.com features the characters and artwork associated with The Guinea Pig Trilogy and Guinea Pig Empire Books For Kids (forthcoming).
