About this Item
8vo. Pp. [2], 3-460. Bound in purple cloth with gold title emblem stamped on front board and spine, lettering in negative. Just a suggestion of edge-wear to cloth, first 10-15 leaves a tad bumped at lower fore-edge corner. In the color illustrated dust jacket with wear and shallow chips to edges, rubbed at folds, spine a bit faded and with a chickpea-size perforation. Please see photos. The uncredited dust jacket illustrator created a dynamic vignette of a flapper-esque woman in an arms-akimbo ecstatic pose, said spires rising behind her. The novel concerns a kept woman; the sociological indictment evident in the title is a narrative theme. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve. Seller Inventory # 6259
