Report on Harff's journey to Egypt, to the Sinai, to land through Western Arabia via Mecca to the Indian Ocean, on to the island of Socotra, to Madagascar, to the Lunar Mountains and the local Nile springs, down the Nile to Cairo, then through the holy land and to Egypt. His statements about Southern Europe, Egypt and the Holy Land are undoubtedly based on his own observation, M. Letts, editor of the English edition, considers the journey through Arabia to Socotra credible, whereas Harff used 3 maps as a basis for his description of Ethiopia and invented the rest.
