A Pilgrim in Celtic Scotland

Celtic Scotland is a term covering a wide geographical area, from Lindisfarne to the Faroes, and encompassing a wide group of races, Briton, Gael, Pict, Anglo-Saxon, and Norse. There is a unifying Celtic thread that has the effect of drawing the different strands together, and of seducing the reader into exciting realms of history, spirituality, topography, and archaeology. The reader can join the author as a fellow pilgrim along the way. John J. O Riordain brings the locations and their history and spirituality to life in such a way that readers may find themselves stepping off a Viking longship or on to the Smyril Line of a Caldeonian MacBrayne ferry, listening to a pibroch in the company of James IV on his pilgrim way to Whithorn; seeing the terror on the face of a wrong-doer scurrying towards the security of Maelrubha's sanctuary at Applecross; gardening on the Machair on Iona with innumerable saintly monks; or perhaps sitting tensely at Whitby in 664 AD awaiting the outcome of the Synod.
