Hard back binding in publisher's original purple cloth covers, gilt titles and designs to the spine and to the front cover, lemon end papers. 8vo. 8½'' x 6''. Contains colour frontispiece by Kronheim, [x], 608 pp with monochrome engravings throughout by W. Cheshire. Large print edition with type face in double pica, 'author's apology' in small type, margins flagged for ease of reference. Rubbing to the spine ends and corners, old tide line inside the rear board, ink message to the front free end paper dated 1874, spine much faded and in Good condition. Member of the P.B.F.A. ENGLISH LITERATURE.
