Synopsis
Pillow Talks remove fears and build loving family bonds.
Have you heard that positive affirmations spoken to your children as they sleep can bring greater depths of love and connection between you and your children? Nancy Beck, BSN, RN, says she has discovered this secret, and it is so important in her life that she just had to share it in her new book, Pillow Talk: Loving Affirmations to Encourage and Guide Your Children.
Part memoir and part instruction manual for parents, Pillow Talk is one of the freshest and most loving approaches to parenting available. The book offers examples of Pillow Talks about common life dilemmas as well as guidelines to help you begin using Pillow Talks to reinforce your own value systems and bring about positive life changes. Nancy explains how using these positive affirmations while your child is asleep can help your child deal with events in real life.
Pillow Talk took two years to complete and contains 16 examples on topics from health, friends, forgiveness, fear of taking test, fear of bugs, reading problems and more. It covers many of the issues parents face every day and can apply to children of any age. "Each example has the results from of my child, and a reflection of what I learned about that experience," Nancy explains.
For example, when her nearly three-year old child had to visit a dentist to have a tooth removed, Nancy called the office ahead of time to find out what would happen during the procedure. While her child was asleep, she used positive affirmations and messages of love to explain the dental process, what her child would feel, and how easy it would be for her child. On the day of the extraction, her child did exceptionally well.
This approach works because the children listen. Why? Perhaps they listen because their other senses are not distracting their attention. They are not watching the TV across the room, listening to the sounds from outside, thinking about that cookie they want to have at lunch, or touching that satin trim on their favorite blanket. They are listening to the Pillow Talk.
The second part of the book provides guidelines for creating your own affirmations. As an added bonus, once you understand how to create affirmations, you can start making changes in your own life as well as supplementing your child s life.
The practice of Pillow Talk has changed the lives of Nancy's family in beautiful and profound ways, and she stresses that good parenting is the key to a happy family. Love and consistency are most important to a child, and this book is a tool to add to your already great parenting skills, she says.
Pillow Talk has full watercolor illustrations on every page by artist Sarah Minor. Her gentle, whimsical designs create a wonderfully meditative read that evokes calm, loving thoughts of childhood.
Pillow Talk is endorsed by Pediatric Specialists.
About the Author
Thank you for your time! I am Nancy Beck, a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Missouri Columbia and 25 years experience as a critical care nurse. This book grew out of what I have learned from the many self-development courses I have taken over the years in an effort to improve my life and my nursing skills.
Through Mastery University with Anthony Robbins, I was introduced to the power of words and their effect on the body and mind. From the lessons learned in this training, I had to turn away from the concept that things just happen to us, and that we really are just victims of our circumstances. A seed was planted, and my reaction to life had to change.
Next I studied Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.I had a new level of understanding the power of language and thought, which enabled me to start taking control of my body and mind by choosing the proper words.
I then took training from my mentor Linda Gentry specifically about the effect of words on the subconscious mind, and how to use them to bring results to my body and to help people around me with my new skills.
These experiences allowed me to bring the information of Pillow Talk to you. I hope that you get profound results using Pillow Talk with your children. It is truly simple. May you and your family be blessed with much happiness, and your children grow with strong and healthy spirits.
With Love,
Nancy Beck
