Pinkwashed: A Novel

Councilwoman Peggy Glass's reelection campaign is derailed when her investigation into the cover-up of a fracking explosion goes terribly wrong. Instead of blowing the whistle on Regional Oil's criminal polluting, she's in jail for hacking and fraud. Peg is also battling breast cancer, a topic Sanders manages to make both political and laugh out loud funny.

Peg won't tell you "cancer is a gift." Instead she draws you in with the confessional tone of thrillers like The Girl on the Train. When Peg's brother gets cancer, her family unites to fight the corporation that employed them for generations. The one thing Regional Oil overlooked is cancer has made this family fearless.

Like Sanders' original handling of bullying in 2013's The Boy Without A Face, Pinkwashed tackles the prickly collusion between polluters, politicians, and breast cancer NGO's As Peggy balances between impassioned whistle blower or criminal hacker, readers contemplate the ethics of corporate digital privacy and the public's right to clean air and water.

Starr Sanders is a former teacher having taught seventeen different subjects during her tenure. She is an author (The Boy Without A Face, 2013), a political activist, environmentalist, wife and mother, as well as a breast cancer survivor.
