About the Author

Joaquim Ruyra (Girona, 1858-Barcelona, 1939) va estudiar Dret, per� no va exercir mai d�advocat, sin� que va dedicar-se al comandament del patrimoni familiar. La seva condici� de propietari rural establert a Blanes (i m�s tard a Barcelona) li va permetre de con�ixer a fons la vida i la llengua dels mariners i dels pagesos, que va convertir en els dos centres de la seva obra liter�ria. Tots dos pols, el de mar i el de muntanya, es manifesten clarament en el t�tol i en el contingut de la seva obra cabdal, Marines i boscatges, apareguda el 1903 (i convertida, el 1920, en Pinya de rosa). La parada (1919) i Entre flames (1928) completen l�obra narrativa de Ruyra, que tamb� va conrear, per� amb menys fortuna, la poesia, el drama i l�assaig.
