Pip’s First Day at Preschool: A Reassuring Back-to-School Story About Big Feelings, New Friends, and Brave Goodbyes (Little Sandpipers Learning: Big Strides Stories)

The first day of preschool is exciting—but it can make a little tummy feel fluttery, too.

When Pip arrives at a brand-new classroom, everything feels unfamiliar: the goodbye, the busy sounds, the new routines, and all those new friends. With one slow breath, one caring grown-up, and one small thing to try, Pip discovers that courage does not have to feel big.

Inspired by real early-childhood classrooms, this warm, reassuring picture book helps young children:

• Name mixed feelings about starting preschool or child care
• Practice a simple three-step “brave plan”
• Understand routines such as circle time, learning centers, lunch, rest, and pickup
• Look forward to play, art, music, movement, friendship, and special school experiences
• Trust that their grown-up will return

Perfect for ages 2–5, classroom read-alouds, back-to-school preparation, daycare transitions, and any child taking a brave first step.

Little feet. Brave steps. Big strides.
