The author was witness to the invasion of Hungary in 1941, from which experience she is able to clearly portray real people in a time of crisis. Set in Budapest, the story centres on an American and his daughter. Condition: DJ has been backed with brown parcel paper and has old sellotape to top and bottom. DJ scuffed on spine & sides. o/p on left side under DJ in neat blue biro: Royal Liverpool Childrens Hospital, Cheshire, Nursing Library. In seam hospital stamp. Following o/p hospital stamp. Sellotape mark on left and right. End paper hospital stamp. No further stamps/marks. Sellotape tape marks on paste downs at end, + old small piece of sellotape side of DJ. Pages tanned on edges. Clean, little wear, binding tight.
