Plan B 4.0 - Mobilizing to Save Civilization

Of the 430 bird species occurring in Egypt about 150 are resident breeding birds, the rest are either migratory or winter visitors. The mountains and the Eastern desert hold many resident birds. The Red Sea with its rich ecosystem offers suitable habitat for 15 breeding species. Birds adapted to desert life inhabit wide ares of the Egyptian desert and are specially adapted to live under the harshest desert conditions. Each autumn and spring thousands of millions of migrating birds pass through Egypt. In winter Egypt hosts a multitude of birds and is particularly important for wintering waterbirds. This book has been designed to help identify the commoner birds of different types of habitats by illustrating a wide selection of them in color. The simple text aims to give a general introduction to the habitat, distribution and status of each species.
