This book is a clever satire witha serious social message: How poorly we treat each other in society and howthis poor behavior weakens us personally and as a nation.The book critiques a wide arrayof everyday social behaviors and offers solutions on how to correct ouruncivilized behavior.Dr. Mayer proposes a new socialdisorder (illness) he calls, Center Ofthe World Syndrome. Those who suffer from this he labels as COWS.He terms the solutions offered as: Tipping the Cows.John Mayer on:The Universal sign of friendship: Does this really mean anythinganymore? When someone flips you off, do we really care?Tipping the Cow:Blow fellow motorists a "kiss"when they salute you with that harmless fingertry ityou'll get a biggerreaction.Conversation: Do 'please'and 'thank you' just not exist anymore? I don't know where they went, but,poof! they disappeared right out of the Englishlanguage. if you want to visit them they reside indictionaries like sitting in a museum.Tipping the Cow: We have to stop responding to peoplewho don't request things from us in a civil manner.Parenting: parents (who) place their needs and expectations beforethe children's. They are Cow parents. why don'tchildren do things the way we want them to do them? Because they arechildren! they are not finished products bydefinition.Mental Health Professionals:The Mental Health Field is a big, ripe grazing pasture for Cows.Parenting: it isabsolutely uncivilized behavior of a society to allow such large numbers ofyouth to use drugs How do we not allow our kids to drink and drug? wetalk to them, we control them, model for them, mentor them and we punish (Ooops! not supposed to say that word, punish, now-a-days.)them for unacceptable behaviortalk to your kidsdon't let drugs be anunmentionable secret around the house--we need to let them know what dire consequenceswe will inflict upon them if they use drugs or drink.

Dr. John E. Mayer is a practicingclinical psychologist. He has been helping people change their lives for over25 years. He is a nationally known clinician, author, lecturer, and consultant.Dr. Mayer has authored 11 books, including: The 3 Week Family Fat Cure,Shadow Warrior (a novel), books on Drug, smoking andgang prevention and athletic coaching. Dr. Mayer received his doctorate from Northwestern Univ. Medical School.He is a diplomate in both clinical and sportspsychology. The highest status one can attain in each of these fields, anexceptional accomplishment in two fields. Dr. Mayer is married and hastwo wonderful children.
