Young Izzie has some big shoes to fill: her mother is the co-founder of a sanctuary for the last living humans on Earth. As her mother works to secure a future for humankind, Izzie struggles to find her own worth in a world ruled by the undead. After a horrifying encounter with The Skin Craft Killer changes Izzie's life, she is forced to confront the secret world her mother left behind. Apparently, there is more than one way to come back from the dead...

However, Izzie has another big problem: a menacing monster invisible to everyone else has a strange habit of popping up whenever she's most vulnerable. Facing her fears and working with this beast might be the only way to solve the mysteries surrounding Izzie and stop a serial killer before he kills again. Can the living and the undead, man and monster, find a way to work together before it's too late?
