Planning & Design Strategies for Net Zero Carbon Buildings

This book presents a study on sustainable row houses constructed in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, focusing on reducing carbon emissions in the building sector. The project adopts eco-friendly construction practices by replacing cement with fly ash to lower embodied carbon and environmental impact. It highlights planning, design strategies, and material selection methods that contribute to net zero carbon goals. The study also identifies beams and columns as major sources of carbon emissions and demonstrates that sustainable alternatives can improve structural strength and reliability. The work aims to create awareness and provide practical guidance for developing low-carbon residential buildings toward achieving carbon neutrality.
