One man's desperate gamble for a better life in 1960s Liverpool.

For Reggie Kellison, life is a grind. His marriage is losing its spark, a sixth child is on the way, work is a dead end, and even his beloved Tranmere Rovers offer little joy. But Reggie has a plan―a scheme involving the football pools that promises a life of riches, passion, and escape.

Success means a new life with his lover and enough money to fulfill his dreams. Failure means a prison cell. Either way, Reggie is risking everything, and Playing the Pools is his story of temptation, betrayal, and the high price of chasing a dream.

David M. Sindall lives in West Kirby on the Wirral. He grew up in Birkenhead and spent most of his career working in the field of diversity. Playing the Pools is his third novel following on from After Alyson (2012) and Snatched (2016). It celebrates his lifelong love of Tranmere Rovers and reflects on his childhood as the youngest of 6 children.
