About this Item
Three-volume set of Plays by August Strindberg, comprising the First Series, Second Series, and Fourth Series, translated with introductions by Edwin Björkman and published by Duckworth & Co., London, in 1924.
The set is bound in the publisher's original tan cloth with black lettering and decorative rules to the front boards. Contents include some of Strindberg's most important dramatic works, including The Dream Play, The Link, The Dance of Death (Parts I & II), Miss Julia, The Stronger, Creditors, Pariah, The Bridal Crown, The Spook Sonata, The First Warning, and Gustavus Vasa.
A handsome early Duckworth edition, increasingly difficult to find in matching volumes and appealing to collectors of Scandinavian literature, modern drama, and early twentieth-century theatre.
Condition: Good.
Three matching volumes in original publisher's cloth. Bindings sound and secure. Black lettering remains clear and legible. Moderate rubbing and shelf wear to boards, with fraying and bumping to spine ends, most noticeable on Volume I. Former owner's stamp ("Clive Harper") to front endpapers. Pages generally clean and bright with light age toning and occasional minor marks. A few scattered stains and handling marks present, but text remains clear throughout. No dust jackets, as issued or not present.
