Pleas For Peace And Union Against Political Intolerance And Sectional Animosity: Speeches (1876)

Pleas For Peace And Union Against Political Intolerance And Sectional Animosity: Speeches (1876) is a collection of speeches delivered by Thomas Francis Bayard, an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States Senator from Delaware and as the United States Secretary of State under President Grover Cleveland. The speeches in this book were delivered during a time of political turmoil in the United States, when the country was still recovering from the Civil War and struggling to find unity and peace. Bayard's speeches address the issues of political intolerance and sectional animosity, which he believed were hindering the country's progress towards unity and peace. He argues for the importance of tolerance, compromise, and cooperation in politics, and calls on his fellow Americans to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal of a united and prosperous nation. The book provides a valuable historical perspective on the challenges faced by the United States during the post-Civil War era, and offers insights into the political and social issues that continue to shape the country's identity today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
