Please Destroy This (Paperback)

Paperback. "A deathblow of ruins from fallen reverie. I wrote nearly every day for the next 5 years." In 1995, following a devastating wave of catastrophic losses, deep betrayals, and paralyzing grief, author Ken Ferrell's faith in life and love collapsed around him. Seeking salvation from a world of suffocating routine and emotional noise, he turned to the written word-crafting a raw, unfiltered chronicle of a soul in mortal combat with its deepest demons. Please Destroy This is a hauntingly beautiful collection of select letters, journals, and late-night missives written from the dizzying heights and hollow depths of those transformative years. Moving like a ghost through the rain-slicked streets and coastal hideaways of La Jolla and San Diego, Ferrell navigates intense, time-crossed romances, artistic obsessions, and the profound isolation of a "dream-walker" searching for a similar species in a numb world. Part epistolary memoir, part poetic prose, this book explores: The intoxicating, volatile fever of forbidden and star-crossed love.Deep reflections on the traps of memory, youth, and the relentless momentum of time.A fierce rebellion against the corporate, 40-hour workweek and the mundane safety of a routine life. The healing-and destructive-power of music, poetry, and absolute solitude.Evocative, dark, and intensely romantic, Please Destroy This is a timeless testament for the artists, the late-night thinkers, the somnambulists, and the barren-hearted wanderers who seek the unseekable and speak the unspeakable.
