Plum Rains on Happy House

“PLUM RAINS ON HAPPY HOUSE” IS A TOUR DE FORCE OF CULTURE-CLASHING, SIDE-SPLITTING HUMOR!" Readers Favorite

In Japan, even the rainy season can drive you crazy.

At the little Happy House inn, the arrival of the plum rains signals the beginning of a season of volatility, decadence, and increasingly bizarre behavior.

The American in Room 1 has other plans. He’s determined to turn the run-down inn into a thriving English school.

Unfortunately, Happy House has plans of its own.

Something lives beneath the floorboards—a freakish creature known as the Crat—and it isn't particularly interested in English education, cultural exchange, or the American Dream.

As the rainy season intensifies, Happy House becomes a pressure cooker of culture clashes, eccentric guests, and unhinged personalities, all trapped beneath one increasingly unhappy roof.

Forget everything you think you know about Japan.

The plum rains are coming.

And Happy House is not happy—not in the rain.

"This is a gem of metaphorical description, and provides insights that linger in the mind long after the mysterious, true nature of Happy House draws to an end." Publisher's Daily Reviews
