The important third edition of Edward Dubois' satirical work, this edition including a report on the legal case brought against Dubois due to this publication. Sir John Carr Against Hood and Sharpe', with a seperate half-title and title.Edward Dubois' satirical and entertaining spoof on the travels of Sir John Carr, 'The Stranger in Ireland', which had previously been published and gaining attention.This publication, quickly going through editions, poked a nerve with Carr, who brought legal action against Hood and Sharpe. The case came before Lord Ellenborough in 1808, who summed up in favour of the defendant. In a half calf binding with marbled paper the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some minor rubbing to the boards. Light bumping to the extremities. Spine is lightly faded. A few small marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Light edge wear to the frontispiece. Chip to page 132, resulting in loss of text. Lacking the final leaf of 'Libel'. Tidemark to the head of the first few pages. Very Good.
