Complete box set, the box is damaged and repaired with clear tape, books are all in very good condition, inquire for photos. shipped with care. --- A boxed set of seventy slim paperbacks, one title each from seventy authors, issued for Penguin's seventieth birthday. Many of the books are extracts or chapters from longer works on the Penguin list, and most can be read on their own. The set mixes fiction, history, science, food writing and journalism, including Homer's The Cave of the Cyclops, Kafka's The Great Wall of China, Orwell's In Defence of English Cooking, Antony Beevor's Christmas at Stalingrad, Primo Levi's Iron, Potassium, Nickel, Virginia Woolf's Street Haunting, and C. H. Rolph's account of the Lady Chatterley trial. Seventy artists and designers each made one cover, using methods that range from stencil and embroidery to photography and hand-lettering, and the colored spines form a rainbow in the box.
