A Poem for You: Excerpts From One Life

A Poem for You, 2nd Ed is an update to the original composition of words, linguistic rhythm, and short essays that express meaning about one life---experienced by many people. The changes in this edition are primarily editorial. Additionally, not all poems rhyme in this work, but all of the poems were once part of the journey of "becoming" that reflect personal pain, growth, love, self-encouragement, and the drive to press on, in the face of sorrow, and joy.

Dawn C. Reid follows the traditions of Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, and Nikki Giovanni--a classic urban style that speaks to the experiences of people who want to share their voice, their pain, and their love for words. Writing poetry is a form of self-expression for Dawn. She also loves painting as another medium of artistic expression. Dawn also enjoys music and comes from a long line of creative musicians and artists (e.g., The Coleman Brothers, Thomas Davis, Jr) Ms. Reid is a marriage and career coach. She is the owner of Reid Ready Life Coaching, LLC (www.reidreadycoaching.com) in New Jersey, and uses writing or journaling, among other tools, to help her clients push through obstacles to foster growth and flow in their respective lives. Ms. Reid has a Master's degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. She is well versed in academic and research writing. However, she enjoys creative writing as a personal outlet.
