Poems for Lonely Prophets (Volume)

Dissident prophets engage in social justice when they stand in the way of choices that hurt people and the earth. Poets enhance the prophetic function by poking through the surface of things, and at times they take unpopular positions in questioning the status quo. These poems are a courageous call to sanity.

This fourth volume has a wide range of resistant poems about nuclear weapons, drones, and violence. It describes occasions through 2013 and 2015 when people were arrested for their high ideals about a non-violent world. It takes off from the previous three volumes of prophetic poetry identifying six significant values: Peace, Justice, Ecology, Openness, Authenticity, and Love.

Ron Faust is a retired minister-sailor-poet-activist who follows his passion for peace and justice issues. He supports PeaceWorks, American Friends Service Committee, and Disciples Peace Fellowship in Kansas City. Arrested for crossing the line at Creech AFB, Whiteman AFB and both old and new nuclear weapons parts plants, he protested the mad mindlessness of building nuclear weapons. He attended Christian Theological Seminary and received his doctorate from Drew University. His previous works include the fictional Gaps, under his pen name Mac Keyes, and a trilogy of poetry books, starting with Prophetic Poetry: Holy Agitation for Peace, Justice and Passion. Dr. Faust collaborated with Toni Faust on Grandparenting for Compassion and Peace. He relishes the contribution to the arts by musician Jeremy and dancer Tuesday while sharing a legacy of laughter and peace with his grandchildren.
