Providing just a glimpse of insight into the lives, emotions and thinking of just a few of these 2.4+ million human beings, Poems from Prison is mandatory reading for any person who cares about humanity and the direction of the criminal justice system in the United States today.

Corey Mackey is a gifted poet with an uncanny intuition and a natural instinct for what is important. Writing poetry for the last two decades, he has performed at venues throughout Houston, Texas, reciting his poetry for enthralled audiences. In prison, he focused on helping others find the special words they sought to express their regrets and their dreams to family, friends, and lovers. This book is a collection of those writings, together with poetry written by him both in and out of prison.
