Houghton, addressing aspects of the publishing and printing of his books, Octavo sheet, folded, 3 pp. Robert Traill Spence Lowell (1816-1891) was the son of Charles Russell Lowell, Sr., the brother of James Russell Lowell, and the namesake of the confessional poet Robert (Traill Spence) Lowell (IV). BAL 13486 Green boards have substantial cockling and bumped top corner, and light rub near foot of spine. Partial separation of ffep and small tear to rfep, some loose binding though all pages are intact and bright. Overall a very good and unique copy with letter from Lowell to regarding decisions about the book to publisher and future mayor of Cambridge, Henry Loughton sewn inside ffep 206 pp. [ii additional leaves as folded letter]. 8vo.
