Kennedy, the Titanic, Johnny Unitas and the World Trade Center. Also included are nostalgic poems, such as "The Solitary Boy," "The Passing of the Day," "Ode to Poetry," and the haunting "Mistress Maiden by the Sea." The powerful sonnets, which Mr. Kohlhepp calls "miniature explosions of profound thought" are quite compelling. He felt personal poems like "The Hero of One's Life," which tells the story of his father and other veterans returning home from war, bearing their emotional and physical scars, and "Ode to a Dog," a tribute to his dog Cody and his family's dogs, reflect the experiences and emotions that are universal to so many. Mr. Kohlhepp hopes that this collection of poems will help to illuminate the minds and souls of its readers.

About the Author

Edmond F. Kohlhepp was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 12,1949. He resides in the same house that his great-grandfather bought in October 1918. This house, known to his family as Wernig Hall, is located in the neighborhood of Guilford. His father, Edmond J. Kohlhepp, was a World War ll veteran whose name is inscribed on the Destroyer Escort Memorial Plaque, which hangs on the main wall of the War Memorial Building in downtown Baltimore. His mother, Mary E. Kohlhepp, worked for the Veterans Administration for almost twenty years and was an amateur artist like her mother. Edmond's love of poetry began at an early age when he started reading poetry books found in his grandmother's library. Over the years, his writing ability evolved until he was able to write poetry in his own unique and nostalgic style. In his early twenties, Edmond was composing music on the piano. Both his family and friends thought this talent was highly unusual since he never had a lesson in music, for he played by ear, not by the reading of notes. Mr. Kohlhepp is writing a second volume of poetry and hopes to have it ready for publication in 2017.
