New York: P.M. Haverty, Publisher, 1872. Thomas Davis (1814-1845), a barrister and dedicated Irish nationalist, was a founder of the Young Ireland movement and started the influential paper "The Nation." He died young, in what many regard as suspicious circumstances. Introduction by the famous nationalist John Mitchel. This is a Very Good copy of what Quercus belives to be a reprint of the 1854 edition. Green cloth binding with gilt lettering and Irish harps. Clean and fresh text; 252 pages. Mildly bumped, minor scuffing, and a bit of "bubbling" on the front cover. Still, a sold copy; the gutters are weak but still holding. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Reprint. Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
