Contents mostly Very good, clean & tight, the rare odd minor mark, inscription to rear endpaper & inside front 3 owners signatures including the Author Francis Blomefield & also the decorative bookplate of the author Francis Blomefield engraved by W. H. Toms (see below), and some notes below. The frontispiece illustration of Broome engraved by Vertue. Despite the claim of the title,'second edition, with large alterations and additions' this is actually a re-issue with mostly using the title-page of the first edition of 1727 for which Lintot had paid Broome £35. Confusingly, an augmented second edition had appeared in 1739. It seems likely that after five years from the poet's death in 1745, Lintot put this volume together, possibly from old stock adding the interesting page titled Advertisement . Francis Blomefield ( 1705 ? 1752) was a Norfolk antiquary, a Paster and author of An Essay towards a Topographical History of Norfolk and other Norfolk histories. His bookplate by William Henry Toms 1700?1765 a well known engraver of portraits, book-plates, Maps etc. Size 12.5 x 19.75cm approx. Seller Inventory # 003835
