Limited to one thousand copies of which this is number six hundred and seventy-three. A collection of the poetry of Andre Marie Chenier, a French poet associated with the events of the French Revolution, during which he was sentenced to death. His sensual, emotive poetry marks him as one of the precursors of the Romantic movement. With titles including: L'Aveugle, Le Malade, Bacchus, Hylas, and La Jeune Tarentine, amongst others. Bound in half crushed morocco with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed.
