Poetic Edda: A Heathen Study Edition: Mythological Poems

The Poetic Edda is at the core of the corpus of woks that Heathens collectively refer to as "the lore." It is essential reading for anyone who wants to have an understanding of the source material that so many works about our faith and mythology are based upon. Up until now, translations of the Poetic Edda from the original Old Norse have been the work of academics who did not hold the Heathen faith. All of the previous translations of this great treasure of world literature have been colored by the foreign worldviews of their respective translators. Whether it be Christian or Secular Humanist, the biases of these translators has caused them to miss certain nuances of the text that are important for a deeper understanding of the Poetic Edda. This translation by Thorstein Mayfield provides that deeper understanding that can only be understood and conveyed by someone who has lived as a member of the Heathen community for nearly three decades. This real world experience and understanding of our faith, combined with real scholarship and research, brings new life and depth to this ancient work of art which lies so close to the core of our faith.
