Poetic Science 101

About the Book

Some loves never leave. They just change shape.

In this collection, Justin Mitchell traces one man's heart across the wreckage and wonder of love lost, love unspoken, and love that lingers long after it's gone. Moving between present-day reckonings and flashbacks he can't quite outrun, these poems chart a journey through heartbreak, faith, memory, and the slow, uneven work of becoming whole again.

Raw and unguarded, Poetic Science 101 doesn't offer easy answers. It offers honesty: about the women who shaped him, the versions of himself he's had to unlearn, and the quiet belief that even in the dark, something is still catching us.

For anyone who has ever loved someone they couldn't keep, and kept loving them anyway.

About the Author

Justin Mitchell is a former Navy Petty Officer First Class, a former data center building engineer, and a disabled veteran. His journey from science to poetry began when life forced a new path.

After an administrative separation following a schizophrenia diagnosis, Justin turned his background in submarine nuclear propulsion into writing poetry about the human experience.

Inspired by music and the world around him, he creates verses that bridge logic and emotion, and speak to anyone who has loved, lost, or hoped.
