From Introduction: The poetry of Mark Akenside (1721-1770) may not be widely read today, but in the eighteenth century and for much of the nineteenth his work was held in the very highest esteem, and writers as eminent as Wordsworth and Coleridge were considerably indebted to him.The Amherst Akenside holdings were originally mounted in Dyson's own copy of the 1772 Poems, and together they form the largest single collection of his poetic manuscripts in the world.The manuscripts give the pieces [Ode to a Gentleman Whose Mistress Had Married an Old Man and Ode to a Gentleman in Hazard of Falling in Love] in a state quite different from that of the first printed texts. All items subject to prior sale. Shipping is $4.25 for the first
volume via book rate ($9.00 via Priority Mail) and $1.00 for each volume
thereafter. Rates for international orders are a minimum of $28.00 per
book (via Global Priority Air, if feasible). Sets, oversize and/or heavier
volumes will generally cost more to ship, both domestically and
internationally; we will quote a price to you when this is the case. Florida
residents need to add 7% sales tax. Payment may be by Check/Money
Order (in US dollars), Credit Card (American Express, Mastercard, and
Visa) or PayPal. All items are returnable within 30 days.
